This grade is one of the most common alloys of aluminium. The hardened (T6) aluminium alloy 6061-T6 has good mechanical properties and exhibits very good weldability, reasons for it being one of the most common alloys of aluminium for general-purpose use. High machinability and ductility, good strength-to-weight ratio. Aluminum alloys have good strength-to-weight ratio, high thermal and electrical conductivity, low density and natural corrosion resistance. Can be anodized. Common applications include aircraft structures, yacht construction parts and even scuba tanks.
